Since I havent been updating for sucha long time, this will be a long entry. Be warned! Hee.
CNY loot this year wasnt too bad for me. Am a happy little girl armed with lotsa stuff bought with my ang bao money. Been shopping with myself quite alot of times lately. Not a bad feeling, since I can just walk around on my own and go into any shop that I am interested in, without having to feel bad about letting someone wait for me. As of today, Ive already bought 5 tops, a pair of shorts, 3 books, 1 jacket and a set of lingerie. Ahaha. I am mad. But they were all such good buys I couldnt resist!
The books I bought were namely [[Freakonomics]], [[The Interpretation of Murder]], and [[In the Company of the Courtesan]]. [[Freakonomics]] is brilliant; it changed my formally boring and restrictive opinion of the subject, and made me see some of the theorems I am currently studying on with a new perspective. It's comforting to be able to recognise some of the theorems discussed and, although a cheap thrill, I am exceptionally gleeful when the author mentioned stuff like "non-economists wont understand", while I thought to myself: "HA! Poor commoners(other readers). I understood!"
Teehee.
Currently on [[The Interpretation of Murder]] and so far, it looks good. :) Happy about my purchases since I had no prior knowledge of them(except for [[Freakonomics]]) before buying. At least I am fulfilling one of my resolutions to myself for 2007: to read more. Anyone wants to get me a Borders Card?
Met up with dearest Hk-ventured Angeline! Went Morton's with her and Bong, and had a great time there catching up and exchanging stories about happenings while she is away.
Then it's to Fin Cafe for a satisfying meal with great service. The place is right beside the colorful and pretty lights and I cant help but take a picture of it.
To O bar and Zouk next for Ladies' Night! Met up with Veron and co at O bar and it was a delightful exchanging of greetings since they havent been seeing Bong for oh-so-long.
Jostled with the crowd for some time before conceding defeat and the bunch of us decided to go for our usual bak ku teh supper. Yum.
Then I went on an emotional rollercoaster. The actual term break was spent lamenting and wallowing in sorrow while I struggled to overcome the problem. Thank goodness for friends like darling Bong, who volunteered to go drinking with me at Balcony and alleviated some part of my depression.
Those 2 drinks were only a small portion of other potions we drank. The fantastic company lifted my mood before crashing down again when I got home.
The rest of the week was spent in varying degrees of happiness and depression until things finally settled down and started to look better. I think some part of me is so skeptical/cynical of the good things around me that I'm failing to appreciate what people are doing to cheer me up. Ive got to stop doubting everyone around me, and count my blessings.
After the term break came this hectic week with lots of tests and quizzes. Nearly couldnt breathe while I turned on my study mode and mugged throughout. Finally got through all of them and caught up with my sleep. =)
After all these, my life should be returning to normal I guess. Catching [[Dreamgirls]] with Bong tmr and Im so excited! Heard its a great movie. Cant wait!
